BREAK THE PLANE, presented by Fam1st Family Foundation and the University of Ottawa, is an event-based co-ed leadership program. Our programming consists of on-field football drills, a 3D printing workshop, a video game session, and electronic-device free activities. The goal behind the program is to help build self-esteem and interpersonal skills for our youth. During this premier day-camp, youth from the city of Ottawa will learn and sharpen their leadership skills, be exposed to fitness & S.T.E.M. programming, while also getting a chance to mingle with a group of inspiring athletes, coaches, and entrepreneurs. BREAK THE PLANE is 100% free for our attendees. We are providing meals and snacks as well as transportation to and from the event for those who need it.

BREAK THE PLANE will be hosted on Saturday June 22, 2019 at the University of Ottawa Matt Anthony Field (801 King Edward St. Ottawa, ON) and is for youth aged 10-17.

Joshua Johnson, Marshawn Lynch, Marcus Peters and their charity, the Fam1st Family Foundation have a long (12 year) history of providing numerous opportunities in football, S.T.E.M. (science, technology, education, and mathematics), and entrepreneurship. Everything from their annual Fam1st Family Week, to their annual Coding N’ Cleats program, is centred around driving forward youth-based city-building initiatives in Oakland, California. Working with  the University of Ottawa, BREAK THE PLANE aims to help tie in a theme of inclusion and diversity within our programming, inspired by our friends in the Bay Area.

We have planned an exciting day of activities! Our attendees will have the opportunity to: exercise with some of the world’s best professional football athletes, coaches, and trainers, build within uOttawa's world class 3D-printing facility through a workshop, and hangout with their peers for a gaming and activity session.

This is a full day event, and there is going to be a lot going on - so we want to ensure that all the campers have the best experience possible through out the camp. In this package you will find some of the rules and expectations for campers and parents that are required for participation in this event, some things we recommend you bring with you to ensure your safety in the camp, and a schedule of the day’s events. We will be providing food, beverage, a t-shirt, and transportation for those who wish to use it.

Once again, our team cannot stress enough how excited we are to have you come and enjoy a day of fun with us. Keep an eye out on our website for any updates on this event, and welcome to BREAK THE PLANE!
